Dog Owners & the Law

Saturday, September 27 - 3:00 PM CST

Here's your chance to ask an attorney your dog/law questions, as we talk live with with Mary Randolph, JD, author of "Every Dog's Legal Guide." Mary provides basic legal information for dog owners, including discussion about licensing laws, dealing with a "no pets" clause in a lease, airline transportation of dogs, animal control rules when a dog runs free, barking dogs, and what to do if you witness animal cruelty.

Today's episode is co-hosted by prolific dog blogger Juliet Farmer, a full-time freelance writer who blogs at http://thatdogblog.com and guest blogs at http://pets.savvy-cafe.com.  as well as frequently contributes to several local and national consumer and trade publications and websites. Two years ago, Juliet rescued a retired greyhound, Greta. When Greta was attacked at a local dog park, Juliet pushed for the enforcement of local laws, sued the attacking dog’s negligent owner, and won the case in small claims court. The Farmer pack includes Greta, Juliet and her husband, and two rescued shelter cats, all of whom live harmoniously together in Sacramento, Calif.

We also talk to Dr. Jill Goldman, a Certified Applied Animal Behaviorist and owner of Carleton's Place Animal Behavior Services in Laguna Beach, California. In addition to solving pet behavior problems, Dr. Goldman consults with attorneys when animals are involved in legal cases. The most common cases involve dog aggression. Legal services include testing, assessing, and evaluating the behavior of the animal in question, as well as providing expert testimony for trial and arbitration.

Plus, we'll talk with Alana Stevenson, author of the new book, Training with a Heart, and Karen Ngo, author of Indognito, a new book of stylish, whimsical photographs of dogs.
